Ripple is pushing AI deeper into corporate treasury operations with an expanded version of GSmart, its AI capabilities within Ripple Treasury. The update targets finance teams managing both traditional cash and digital assets while keeping financial decisions subject to human oversight.
Ripple Adds AI Across Treasury Operations
The expanded GSmart platform introduces AI agents designed to monitor several core treasury functions, including cash forecasting, liquidity planning, risk management, reconciliation and reporting.
Ripple avoids letting an AI system do independent financial transactions; instead, it splits transaction evaluation and execution. AI can recognize patterns, understand company policies and recommend actions, and deterministic engines can do financial calculations.
Each agent can flag an issue, recommend a response and point to a policy rule that backs up the recommendation. The proposal is then submitted to a selected employee for approval before any financial move is made.

Governance Becomes a Core Layer
Ripple also unveiled Knowledge Studio, the policy and control layer of GSmart. There’s the ability to establish a set of rules internally that guide the AI and to review any potential actions in relation to those rules.
The other layer Analytics Studio contributes is Ask GSmart, a conversational tool to query treasury data and uncover insights without having to wade through several reports.
The issue of governance is a rising concern for businesses integrating AI agents, Ripple stated. Gartner expects the average Fortune 500 company could have more than 150,000 AI agents in use by 2028, while only 13% of organizations currently believe they have appropriate governance in place.
GSmart Adoption Already Reaches Enterprise Users
The new tools are enhancements of existing ones consumers are using with Ripple Treasury.
Ripple said 60% of its eligible customers had now turned on Risk Insights, which tracks exposure in its treasury for anomalies and policy violations. An additional 44% of available customers utilize Forecast Insights, which compare expected cash flows to actual to determine if there are liquidity gaps.
The figures show that GSmart is not just a product in development but has a position in enterprise treasury processes.
The concept behind GSmart was that CFOs want AI that improves efficiency without sacrificing explainability, compliance or control, said Ripple SVP of Treasury Renaat Ver Eecke.
Ripple Connects AI With Digital Asset Treasury
Ripple Treasury is designed for handling of traditional financial operations in addition to digital assets, and will allow organizations to have one environment for watching and managing both kinds of liquidity.
The company has been expanding beyond payments infrastructure toward a broader treasury platform as institutional adoption of crypto, stablecoins and tokenized financial assets grows.
GSmart layers an intelligence over that infrastructure, enabling treasury teams to analyze balances, detect risks and to forecast liquidity in the interconnected financial operations.
